Dear Customers,
As the owner of the Vegan Village Internet Café, I would like to take this opportunity to thank every customer for the opportunity to provide quality food and service to the community for the last two and a half years. It has been a pleasure working with and learning from you. I am truly grateful for your patronage, and for putting up with occasional errors due to “growing pains,” and for helping to put the Vegan Cafe on the map.
It was my intention to introduce and cater to the customers that enjoy Tex-Mex and Soul vegetarian cuisine at its finest. We grew and prospered only because we found great friends like you who gave us loyal support along the way.
I am saddened to announce that the Vegan Café will be closing its doors this Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 6pm. I have made the decision to dedicate more of my time to the Village Health Foundation, a holistic health clinic serving the broader Los Angeles Community.
Although we are closing the doors of the Village Café, we will continue our catering services and private parties. For more information please call (323) 766-9773, or send an email to veganvillagecatering@yahoo.com. Also, during our final week, come and enjoy our Organic Happy Hour featuring organic cocktails, beer and wine, appetizer specials daily, from 4-7pm. During the entire week, accept our final ‘thank you’ with 10% off or more on your entire bill.
Thank you for your years of support!
Sincerely,
Jewel Thais-Williams

On Background:

Back in the olden days, we used to air this show on KACE FM. It was a magazine format with Mark Whitlock (Now Rev. Mark Whitlock) as co-host, then Kevin Ross in later years. Kathy Williamson and I met during this period, then there was Kitty Davis, Darlene Donloe (both entertainment), Billy MIlls (law), Pamela Garrett, Mahassin (cooking), Sherese Holmes (the Calendar Girl!), Dr. Kwaku did Candid Moments, the Relationship Doctor (Ronn Elmore) and lording over it all was Sam Putney (now in Dallas), (who was the boss) did a sports report. Dia Poole delivered an Inland Empire report, Daphne Bradford, and a plethora of interns and a lot more.

For a short while it aired on Cable (which was hellafunnee!!!) We were on the air from 6-9 a.m. at one point…and my most memorable moment was broadcasting live Winnie and Nelson Mandela walking hand and Hand free from that prison which we demonstrated against in the anti-apartheid movement.

I could go on with Arsenio Hall debuting his TV show around the same time and the interview we did, and the National Guard doing maneuvers outside the studio during the days of the unrest)… But this is a new day, so let’s make new memories!!!
